Há vários músicos que ficam conhecidos por seus trabalhos com outros músicos, como Leon Russel, por exemplo. Há quem fique famoso por conta própria e atrele a si a imagem de figura principal na música, como Johnny Cash. Mas há quem atinja sucesso nas duas frentes, e esse é o caso de Emmylou Harris, uma senhora saída de Birmingham, Alabama.

Dona de uma voz angelical repleta de ternura e suavidade, a sra. Harris se tornou um ícone da música country, em especial, e também do folk e do rock. Suas primeiras inspirações já davam, mais ou menos, o tom que ela seguiria: foi aprendendo canções de Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan e Joan Baez que Emmylou entrou no sedutor mundo da música - e de lá nunca mais saiu.

Harris já trabalhou apoiando Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, Mark Knopfler... Enfim, uma infinidade de grandes nomes. Mas sua participação mais significativa (especialmente para ela) foi com Gram Parsons, alguém que poderíamos chamar de "alma gêmea" de Emmylou Harris. Apesar de curto, seu envolvimento foi intenso e isso se nota em "Boulder To Birmingham", uma das canções mais conhecidas de Emmylou - e que foi justamente feita após a trágica morte de Parsons, em 73. Como disse sua amiga, Linda Ronstadt: "[Bolder to Birmingham] foi o começo de um esforço para processar o acontecido que duraria uma vida inteira".

Tristeza à parte, sua colaboração com Parsons também lhe conferiu personalidade. Uma personalidade que Emmylou desenvolveu ao longo de uma extensiva carreira que já dura mais de quatro décadas. Com 21 álbuns de estúdio em seu trabalho solo, este anjo do country já foi reconhecido 12 vezes com Grammys, alguns pelas produções individuais, alguns pelas colaborações.

No fim das contas, Emmylou Harris já se estabeleceu como "diva do country" há muito tempo e este post traz uma coleção de rarides e preciosidades esquecidas, como o nome da coletânea nos diz, para que possamos relembrar um pouco a trajetória desta mulher de fortes sentimentos e voz suave.
