Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Willi Dixon, Memphis Slim, Little Milton, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Bo Dyddley, Big Bill Broonzy, Lowell Fulson, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, J.B. Lenoir...

Pode-se notar a intensidade de seu trabalho em músicas como Something's Got A Hold On Me, Sunday Kind Of Love, At Last e mais especialmente linda I'd Rather Go Blind.

Until the early 60's, when the musical scene begun to get diversified and the rock and soul started creating a much solid form, the was one fo the greastest sound forces in the United States and in the world as well.

Specially during the 50's, with recording labels such as Atlantic, RPM Records, Parrot Records... There was an infinity of blues labels. But there is one that I, particulary, consider to be most important of them all: and that is Chess Records.

Founded by the Chess brothers in 1950, the label was responsible to launch the career of several of the blues greatests: Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Willi Dixon, Memphis Slim, Little Milton, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Bo Dyddley, Big Bill Broonzy, Lowell Fulson, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, J.B. Lenoir...

Many of those blues legends recorded at Chess' studios during the 50's, and in a smaller scale during the 60's, indeed. This succesful story has been retold recently by the movie Cadillac Records (2008). In the film's script, there is a special spotlight for the theme of todays post: Etta James.

Born Jamesetta Hawkins in january 25 at 1938, at LA, California, this woman came to this world to touch it deeply, and that's for sure! She was still a girl when she started her succesful career, scoring a lot of hits sang with high sentimental load. You can notice the intensity of her work in songs as Something's Got A Hold On Me, Sunday Kind Of Love, At Last and specially in the beautiful song I'd Rather Go Blind.

In this record we're posting today, one of her most recent works, Etta does a wonderful interpretation of several blues classics. From Muddy Waters to B.B. King, she goes through Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James and others. My suggestion is for you to pay careful attention to Lil' Red Rooster, Hush Hush and Sky Is Crying.
